The central heating system is oil fired and is controlled by an automatic timer located in the boiler room. The settings are NOT to be adjusted. If necessary “boost” can be used to give 1 hour of hot water, and “advance” can be used to immediately start the central heating of the next “on” period. The central heating/water settings are as below:
Heating/hot water on 7 days a week. Very limited “on” time Monday to Thursday just to make sure the pipes don’t freeze and midweek trips can get a shower in the evening. At weekends, heating/hot water “on” times Friday evening, Saturday am & evening, Sunday am.
In an emergency, the immersion heater can be used to heat water. The on/off switch is located in the bunkroom near to the boxed-in water tanks. Please use this only if the oil reservoir is empty.
Heating to the lounge can also be provided via the wood/coal burning stove. Wood is stored out in the garden for members and guests to use. Bags of kindling can sometimes be found in the gas store (under the stairs from the car park) or in the “flue” hole opposite the downstairs fire escape outside the hut.
On/off control is fully manual via the push buttons mounted on the wall by the boiler room door. Please ring out wet clothing before hanging up.
When leaving the hut, please DEADLOCK the front door by turning the key two complete rotations in the direction that is opposite that required to open the door.
The main power is activated via a ceiling mounted pull switch which is located to the left of the pigeon holes.
